What Remains, Disappears, or Reemerges?
- Still Life, Winter 2020/2021
What Remains in February, 2021
In 2020, I turned my gaze inward in an attempt to tackle big ideas about time, the relentless pressures we face, and how this intersects with the natural world. This series of still life photographs is inspired by objects readily available in my backyard and documents the here and now of a more isolated existence. The photographs feature withered remains from my garden, paper recreations of winter birds I could view from my window, and loaves of artificial bread as a nod to all the breadmaking posted on social media. Though these images are reflective and often time consuming to make, they are ultimately a response to our immediate environment and an effort to record a distinct period in out collect history.
